The Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport was established in 1972 and due to its consistent development and application of innovative technology, the AASTMT campuses in the Egyptian cities of Alexandria, Cairo, and Aswan have had many achievements in education, training, consultation and research within the fields of maritime transport, engineering, and management sciences for more than 40 years now. Currently, 20,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students, and 1000 researchers work and study on the various campuses of the academy, located all over Egypt.
The AASTMT pays much attention to sciences of climate change, weather forecasting and metrological studies and supports development efforts in the field of managing logistic activities in ports as well as introducing the latest methods in combating oil pollution, maritime safety in ports, in addition to the most important methods in assessing and developing the financial and operational administration in ports.
Research in renewable energy (RE) is a special focus of AASTMT, which believes that RE and the protection of the environment are the basis of future development. AASTMT thus established the Middle East Centre for Energy and Environment Technologies (MCEET) in 1998. The goals and activities of the centre are education and training, business development, and research and development. The MCEET research group develops integrated methods and instruments to ensure sustainable development in the Middle East and neighbouring area and it has many years of experience in the development of efficient system prototypes for electricity generation and transportation. Recently, our research activities have intensified in the fields of wave, wind, solar and biomass energies.
Role in project
AASTMT will collaborate with the main applicant as well as the other partners. In particular, AASTMT will be responsible for activities, which include research of labour market in Egypt and analysis of research data, and the determination of the list of major professional and general competencies of graduates in Smart Environment Change Management. AASTMT will lead the Development 1 WP, in which the design and curriculum for SECCM will be developed and mobility of staff for retraining organized. AAMST will be the lead EG university certifying Master degree because it has fast procedures in building new Master degree programmes. AAMST will organize dissemination activities, workshops, worlk on project newletters, etc. AAMST will act as a coordinator of EG universities activities as well as disseminate their experience to other Egypt universities.
